College Chaplain
The College Chaplain is the Revd Dr Benjamin Williams. He is available to all Fellows, Students and Staff, to those of any Christian denomination, to those of other religious traditions, to those who are spiritual but not religious and to those with no religious or spiritual convictions at all. He can be consulted in confidence on any matter of concern, whether personal, practical or spiritual – academic pressures, relationship difficulties, bereavement, anxiety, or simply to talk generally about life and what it throws up. Through the life of the Chapel, the Chaplain works to integrate the intellectual and the spiritual, and to this end organises speaker meetings, discussion forums and reading groups. His own academic area is Romantic and Victorian Literature and his research interests include poetry and poetics, elegy, literature and religion, hymnody, literary melancholy. More broadly, he is also interested in the relationship between literature and philosophy.
