Wadham College Library PDF Print

The College Library is normally open to Wadham students, and Sarah Lawrence Program at Oxford students, twenty- four hours a day throughout the year, except over Christmas and the New Year.  Visitors and the public are not permitted access to the main library without prior approval from the Librarian, Tim Kirtley, for reasons of security and safety.  Prospective users
of the Persian Section of the library should complete an application form and return it to the Librarian, via Wadham College Lodge.

The library was built in the 1970s to designs of the Glasgow architects Gillespie, Kidd & Coia.
It contains in one building the main library, the Persian Section, and the book stack.  The main library contains approximately 43,000 books and concentrates on those materials needed by undergraduates.  Older materials and our antiquarian collection are housed in the stack. To visit an online exhibition which showcases some of our rare books, and which we are intending to expand in the future, click on the poster above. For information on the college archives, please see the College Archives page.

The library holdings and some of the stack holdings are catalogued onto the online catalogue available at http://solo.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/, which also gives access to the holdings of other libraries around the University. The card catalogue for the stack holdings is presently housed in the library staff workroom in the basement.  Books from the main library not marked Confined may be borrowed online for a fortnight in term or for the vacation. For new students, registration with and a brief induction by one of the librarians is required before use of the library is permitted.  To contact the main library staff, please email library@wadh.ox.ac.uk or telephone 01865 277914.
