Wadham is very well placed to offer the full advantages of university and college life. Its large, quiet grounds situated in the city centre boast some of the most beautiful gardens and buildings in Oxford.

In the following pages you can find out more about applying to Wadham as an Undergraduate or Graduate Student, and also about some special categories of application: Visiting Students, Second BAs and Mature Students. Teachers can also visit our Access & Widening Participation section for contact details and information about open days and school visits.

'When I applied to Wadham I was working in a sandwich shop with a graduate from another College. His exact words were “they’ve got things pretty switched on there”. He was right, from the interview onward things somehow took care of themselves letting me get on with having a good time. Wadham strives for support. Everywhere you turn there is a poster about what to do if you need help.

This ethos was apparent at the interviews with current students all over the place ready to answer questions. At interview I met loads of people I got along with really well (as well as a few I didn’t). I took the view that if some of each type got in there would be plenty of people I could spend a decent three years with. It is true that at most Colleges there will be people to get along with from stereotypes to the rebellious sorts. What is true of Wadham is there are lots of all types and no hierarchy exists.

In terms of Oxford life, Wadham is simply a platform. If you wish to delve deep within the Union you can. If not, don’t. If you want to eat in hall you can. If not, don’t (we have a canteen instead). How thinly you wish to spread yourself is up to you because the opportunities to try something new never stop.'
