We aim to send letters to all candidates, telling them whether they have been offered a place, by the end of December. Candidates who have been offered a place will be asked to reply confirming that they wish to take it up, and will also need to confirm their response to the offer with UCAS.
If you have been offered a place you will be sent further financial information in April and may be sent a reading list (depending on your subject). In late August, if you have achieved the conditions of your offer, you will be sent a Freshers' Pack. This contains information about joining the college, including a questionnaire which helps us to allocate rooms. You don't need to do anything about applying for accommodation at the College until you receive this questionnaire, unless you have any special needs, in which case we advise you to contact the domestic bursar (domestic.bursar@wadh.ox.ac.uk) to discuss arrangements.
If you have any questions about taking up a place at Wadham please contact admissions@wadh.ox.ac.uk. Students who have been offered a place at the College for October 2009 should see the New Students section for further information.
'Choosing a subject to study at university was tough let alone choosing which university, but now that I’m half way through my second term, I know I have made the right decision.
Biology has always been my favourite subject in school and the Biological Sciences course taught at Oxford seems very promising so far, consisting of a three-year course that covers a wide range of areas such as molecular genetics, organisms, and microbial biology. Aside from daily lectures provided by experts and the tutorial system which, of course, is unique to Oxford, what I especially appreciate is the incredibly broad scope of biology that is covered in the course. From differences between carnivore and herbivore dentition to techniques in chromosome mapping, I feel like I have learnt a tremendous amount in a mere term and a half.
Outside academic studies, there are many societies to join and college events to look forward to. The societies include sports as well as common interests, and I currently go for fencing, archery, and badminton.
Being a Wadhamite and therefore completely unbiased in my opinion, I think Wadham has one of the most friendly and relaxed social atmospheres out of all the colleges. Not only is Wadham famed for throwing the best parties, it is also located in the best possible place, right in the heart of Oxford within walking distance to pubs, clubs, shops, and university libraries – should you choose to work!
My expectations of going to Wadham were that of nervous excitement, not knowing what to expect. Now there is little of that initial nervousness and a lot more excitement for the next two years of academic and social fulfilment to come.'
