Ben Szreter (History 2012) and Ben Williams (Chemistry 2013) were part of a touring party of 18 from Oxford who finished third in the tournament. The Oxford team achieved victories over Peking University, University of Southern California and Cambridge University.

Oxford and Wadham goalkeeper Szreter captained the side in China whilst midfielder Williams made his debut for the Blues in the tournament having played for the Oxford second team in the previous season.

Williams rounded off his first taste of Blues football with a memorable opening goal against Cambridge University in a 2-1 victory for Oxford. Szreter departs Wadham at the end of this summer but last year's Wadham football captain, Williams, is hoping to further make his mark in the University football teams next year.

The World Elite University Football Tournament was hosted by Tsinghua University in Beijing, China and took place between 29 July and 7 August 2016. Renmin University, China, beat Melbourne University in the final.
