Some 30 Wadham alumni based in and around Singapore gathered at Sum-Yi-Tai in the the Telok Ayer district of the City at an event hosted by Eu-Yen Tay (Law, 2002). 

Representing Wadham, Lindemann Fellow and Tutor in Physics Martin Bureau welcomed alumni with an update on College life and activities, outlining the ambitious Access to Excellence programme.

Guests, whose matriculations spanned a fifty year period, were delighted to hear that the College is developing a stronger alumni network in Asia, particularly in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Many of the guests also attended a programme of events organised by the University of Oxford from 24-26 March. Academic events included on a variety of subject from quantum computing to digital entrepreneurship, with the University Vice Chancellor, Louise Richardson speaking about terrorism at a plenary session.

Social events included brunch at Eden Hall, the magnificent British High Commissioner’s residence in Singapore and an Oxford/Cambridge alumni boat race.

Deputy Director of Development, Marco Zhang commented: “It was a pleasure to meet such an enthusiastic group of Wadham alumni who are achieving extraordinary heights in their various careers. We look forward to expanding our network of alumni in Singapore and across Asia.”
