Jane Griffiths joined Wadham as Fellow in English in September 2012. Matriculating in 1988, she was an undergraduate and graduate at Magdalen, and taught for four years as a lecturer at St Edmund Hall. She subsequently held posts at Edinburgh and, most recently, at Bristol.

Jane works primarily on the poetry and drama of the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. Her two monographs, John Skelton and Poetic Authority (2006) and Diverting Authorities: The Marginal Gloss from Manuscript to Print (2014), are both published by Oxford University Press. She has also published five collections of poetry with Bloodaxe Books; Another Country: New & Selected Poems was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection in 2008, and Silent in Finisterre (2017) is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.

Outside her academic career, Jane has worked as a bookbinder and as a lexicographer on the Oxford English Dictionary. She maintains her interest in bookbinding, but now spends more time working as a silver smith and tending a slightly erratic MGB.
