Tim Kirtley, College Librarian, Wadham College

Tim was appointed College Librarian at Wadham in 2009, moving from St Hilda’s College where he worked as Assistant Librarian.

Prior to that Tim worked as a Cataloguer at the Bodleian Library and subsequently the Western Art Library of the Ashmolean Museum.

After a first degree in English literature from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, he obtained an MA in Art History, with a dissertation on Picasso, from Oxford Brookes University, followed by an MA in Library and Information Studies from University College London. As part of his library qualification, his dissertation focussed on the issues surrounding the preservation of digital materials. He is the compiler of the catalogue of the private library of Professor Edgar Wind, the first Professor of art history at Oxford. He also serves as the webmaster for the website of Oxford’s Committee of College Librarians.

Aside from librarianship and art history, Tim’s interests include web design and 3D modelling, and he is a keen cartoonist and illustrator. His work features in a number of publications, most notably Outline, the Oxford libraries weekly staff newsletter. He has also held a number of solo exhibitions in Oxford.
