New Undergraduates PDF Print

Information for undergraduates who will be joining Wadham in October 2010 (including deferred entry).

A-level and exam results - what next?

The status of your offer will be displayed on the UCAS website, so do check this before getting in touch.

If you have met the conditions of your offer, we will be writing to you to confirm your place this week, and an information pack for new students will be sent out next week.  Many congratulations!

If you have not been offered a place by Wadham College, please note that neither the college nor the University of Oxford have any places available through either UCAS Extra, Clearing or Adjustment. It is no longer possible to apply for a place to begin studying here in 2010. Further information about places at other institutions can be found on the UCAS website:
www.ucas.ac.uk

Student Finance: The Undergraduate Funding website provides detailed information on fees and expenses, and where to find financial support.

Home/EU students: You need to apply for Student Finance through the relevant agency as soon as possible:

Even if the extent of your family income means that you are unlikely to receive a higher education grant to assist with your living costs, or you do not want to apply for loans to cover fees or maintenance, it is important that you still complete a funding application through the relevant agency as soon as possible to establish that you are, in principle, eligible for support.  Most UK and other EU students who have not already studied for an undergraduate degree will be eligible for public support.  If you do not establish your eligibility, you will be charged a separate college fee and will not be able to take out a student loan for your University tuition fees.  For UK and eligible EU students, this application is also the first step towards applying for a loan for living costs and assessment for the higher education maintenance grant.

It is very important to apply early.  If you don't apply before Easter, you could risk having your application delayed, and you might not receive your first payment in time for the start of your first term.

Please note: All Home/EU students are asked to send a copy of their Financial Assessment (outlining what grants and/or loans you qualify for) as soon as you receive it to: The Admissions Administrator, Wadham College, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PN.  We realise that you may not receive your Assessment until sometime over the summer.

Overseas students

Overseas students, and those undertaking a second undergraduate degree, are not eligible for financial support and you will therefore be sent a Financial Guarantee Form, asking you to provide evidence of your ability to meet the full cost of your study at Oxford (fees + living expenses) for the duration of your course.

Reading Lists: We hope that Reading Lists will be available to download for most subjects from a secure website by early June.  All students holding an offer for 2010 entry will be sent log-in details for this website in due course.  Please note that some departments will not finalise their reading materials for new students until after the confirmation of A-Level results in August.

Freshers' Materials: University and College contracts will be sent to all students joining Wadham in October 2010 in late August, once any academic or financial conditions have been fulfilled.  It is important that contracts are returned promptly, as any delay will delay your registration and may cause you significant inconvenience on arrival.

We anticipate that we will be posting most of our information for new students online (via the secure website mentioned above), including introductory letters and guides, as well as information on fees and accommodation.  Students who have been given an offer for deferred entry will receive their information in the August before their arrival.

If you have not heard from us by the end of August, and you have fulfilled your academic and financial conditions, please e-mail admissions@wadh.ox.ac.uk or tel: 01865 277545.

New students will be expected to arrive by Sunday 3rd October 2010.

If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Administrator on 01865 277545 or admissions@wadh.ox.ac.uk.
