Wadham College has money available from Trust Funds for awards to support the studies of some of those reading, or admitted to the College to read, Classical Mods, Literae Humaniores, one of the classical Joint Schools, or for a postgraduate degree with classical content.
Applications are encouraged from those whose studies have caused or will cause them in the near future to incur extraordinary costs, for example in attending one of the various courses that are recommended to appropriate individuals, e.g. the JACT Greek Summer School, or at the British School at Athens. Others might make a case for help with book purchases, or with travel to attend conferences, or to visit libraries, museums, or ancient sites.
Applications will be considered by the Loans and Grants Committee in consultation with Tutors in classical subjects. The committee will take account of the academic worthiness of candidates, their attainments, and their preparedness for their course.
Future members of the college will be notified of successful applications but the awards will be paid only on matriculation.
Applications should be made using the ‘Academic Related Grants’ form available in the Bursary Building foyer and should include an indication of the expense incurred (or due to be incurred), plus any other relevant information, e.g. details of support obtained from any other source. Applications must be submitted by to the Tutorial Offices by Friday 4th week so that any further necessary information can be gathered before the Loans and Grants Committee meets termly in 6th week.
