Support for Student Applicants

Through our access and outreach work, we support the most talented pupils from under-represented groups to go to university and to succeed when they get there. This extends beyond Wadham and Oxford and includes the most selective institutions. We empowere the students to make the right choice for them.

Our Impact

We are committed to:

  • Providing high-quality support to our link schools' pupils and teachers.
  • Engaging pupils regularly throughout their academic lifecycle, particularly disadvanted pupils.
  • Enrolling the most hard-to-reach pupils on our sustained contact programmes.
  • Empowering pupils to experience the benefits of teaching at Oxford.
  • Developing partnerships within Oxford and beyond.
  • Evalulating activities and acting on learning points.

Wadham is linked with 11 boroughs, the highest number of any Oxbridge college. Our partner schools are predominantly in the East of England and East London.

From academic years 2015/2016 to 2021/2022, the College has engaged over 37,000 pupils across nearly 1,000 outreach events. We have worked with, on average, 224 different schools each year.

We continue to measure impact. Evaluation of our sustained contact programmes has shown a significant increase in the proportion of participants applying the most competative universities identified by UCAS.

Future Plans

Thanks to donor support, Wadham has been able to break new ground and support more than 6000 students annually. We want to expand our programme by:

  • Consolidating our existing offer to make sure our link schools have a good level of provision.
  • Expanding the lifecycle approach to support younger pupils through key transitions (such as secondary to sixth form) and on course.
  • Developing more innovative partnerships with schools, university departments, and career providers to meet the needs of under-represented groups.

We hope to increase our impact by endowing posts within the Academic Office and creating Teacher Fellows to help ensure school teaching enables universty success.

We are always pleased to hear from you. Please do get in touch to discuss how your donation can make a difference.
