Rebecca Brown writes after the event:

This tailored tour of the college has been crafted to highlight some of the more ‘uncomfortable’ aspects of the college’s history, and to raise questions and encourage discussion rather than dictate how we should view Wadham’s past.

This re-contextualisation included the relevance of some of the statues and portraits chosen to hang in prominent positions within the college (including ‘Mother’ George, the washer woman who sits in the SCR) and the almost complete absence of native species in the Fellows’ garden, which is nonetheless laid out in a style that is recognisably that of a classic ‘English’ garden.
