When the game, played on 8 March at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium, went into penalties Ben made the winning save after seven penalties from each side.

Describing the game, Ben said: “Overall the game was fairly even with Oxford slightly on top. However Cambridge took the lead midway through the first half when Daniel Forde slipped the ball over me. Oxford pushed back though and in the second half really forced the issue. Oxford got their breakthrough goal after an hour when the Oxford captain, Ezra Rubenstein's, free-kick was turned into the Cambridge goal by a Cambridge defender. For the last half hour Oxford pushed for a winner but was unable to find it and therefore the game went to a penalty shootout. It took seven penalties from each side before I made the decisive save to give Oxford a first win in the fixture in four years - sparking elation among the Oxford supporters.”
