Building alumni relations

News, Alumni news

Would you like to help Wadham alumni stay in touch with one another and build relations between alumni and current students? If so, why not think about joining the Wadham Alumni Society Committee?

The Wadham Alumni Society, to which everyone who has ever gone to Wadham belongs automatically, is an informal network that helps organise a number of social events for alumni. These include informal evening drinks, more formal dinners in Oxford and London (and potentially elsewhere if there's demand), networking events, discussion forums, and 'inspiration days' when alumni meet current students to talk about career opportunities in particular fields.

The Society committee usually meets twice a year, in early spring and autumn, before the AGM which takes place before the Oxford alumni dinner in September. The committee plans events and discusses ways in which alumni can get involved in supporting the College, stay in touch with one another, help current students and encourage applications to Wadham. Between meetings, the committee moves things forward by email conversations.

If you'd be interested in joining the committee, please get in touch for an informal chat. Ross Hutchison, the current Wadham Alumni Society President, would love to hear from you via the Development Office. If you're interested, we have four vacancies on the committee and women, recent graduates, and those who left in the 1990s are currently under-represented.

To register your interest, please contact the Development Office, ideally by 15 April, with a short statement setting out your relevant experience, why you would like to join the committee, and what you would bring to it. The committee will review the expressions of interest and then propose new members who may be co-opted at once, but would be formally appointed at the AGM of the Wadham Alumni Society which takes place on 10 September before the Alumni dinner.
