News, Student news, Alumni news

Two new plaques celebrating the fundraising efforts of the 2015 and 2016 leavers, as part of the #IGaveToDorothy campaign, have been unveiled.

  • Warden, Ken Macdonald QC with students and staff by one of the two new plaque's located on the Hall stair-lift

  • The second plaque located on the wall in Bar Quad

  • The old Bar Quad steps which have been replaced by a ramp

Warden Ken Macdonald QC joined student donors and staff members to celebrate the fundraising by final year students, which has gone towards improving the accessibility of College buildings.

Contributions from students and generous alumni supporters have helped fund two projects devoted to making College buildings wheelchair accessible - a wheelchair lift into Hall and a ramp to the JCR bar.

This year, leavers are fundraising for a wheelchair ramp down to the C. Day Lewis room, the snug and staircases 29-32.

Each year, since 2015, a committee of leavers has run #IGaveToDorothy campaigns in order to encourage peers to make a gift to College.

So far 25% of all 2017 Wadham leavers have supported the campaign and a generous alumnus has provided matched funding.

Departing students will have further opportunities to support the campaign when they pick up their alumni cards on Friday 16 June (12.30-1.30pm) and at the Leavers Garden Party on Saturday 17 June (3-5pm).
