More than 100 guests were gathered, including Wadham’s first brother and sister Peter Lawson (German, 1970) and Nicky Pinkney (Law, 1974), members of the College’s first women’s rowing crew and representatives of the 1971/72 University Challenge team.
Students from the years 1970 to 1974, some of whom journeyed in from the USA, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and Ireland were reunited with former tutors and old friends.
Much reminiscing took place, particularly over shared seventies photos from matriculation and sporting events. During the afternoon, guests were updated on College life and activities by the Warden, Ken Macdonald QC.
Following pre-dinner drinks in the Antechapel, guests were piped into Hall by Alastair Campbell (Oriental Studies, 1970) playing his bagpipes.
Foundation Fellow Anthony Preston (French and German, 1974) gave a nostalgic and amusing after-dinner speech which was followed with a response from Christina Howells, Professor and Tutor in French.
