On hearing of the award for 'Outstanding Tutor in the Humanities', Wadham College Warden, Ken Macdonald QC, commented: “Many congratulations to Tom for this entirely deserved mark of recognition.”
Tom, who works in moral and political philosophy, joined Wadham in September 2013. Reacting to the award, he said: “I am very grateful to my students for nominating me and delighted to have won, and I am extremely happy to find out in this way that my teaching goes down well. It’s enormously rewarding in itself to work with such talented and motivated students, but I’m not going to turn my nose up at a bit of extrinsic reward as well. The trophy will have pride of place in my office, well away from the heap of books on the floor.”
Wadham’s Tutorial Fellow in Biology, Professor Nathalie Seddon was also nominated for ‘Outstanding Tutor’ in Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences.
Wadham College is immensely proud of its staff, whose tireless work on behalf of its students provides the highest quality of teaching and support.
Nominations for this annual awards ceremony are made by students. An OUSU spokesperson said: “It is a privilege to celebrate such excellence in teaching.”
