Captain Natalie Beckett (PPE, 2015) and her team triumphed against Foxes, a team made up of students from the graduate colleges.

Their road to victory began in the quarter finals when they beat Queen’s by nine goals to nil: “Quite an achievement on the day after Queerfest!” commented Natalie.

In the semi-finals they attained a decisive win over the Corpus/Pembroke team, winning 6:3.

“The team has come a long way since I joined in 2015 when it was difficult to get enough people together for a match. Now we have 22 women on the team making it very hard for me to select only 11 for the final,” said Natalie.

With three team members who play for the University of Oxford blues, and with regular, weekly training sessions in University Parks all on the squad have reached a very high standard.

The finals at the Iffley Road stadium drew supporters from across College. “Everyone was so supportive and the women’s final was played after the men’s which was great in that it wasn’t seen as a warm-up match,” added Natalie.

Congratulations to Wadham’s women footballers: Natalie Beckett (Capt), Louise Nolan, Georgia Mason, Erin Butler, Lea Kambskard-Bennett, Katie Hollands, Rosa Gamble, Sophia Spralja, Katie Plummer, Catherine Byrne, Kitty Low, Molly Weiland, Grace Hutchison, Grace Elshafei, Daphne Burt, Ruby Wolman, Justine Farrant, Ivy Manning, Flora Clark, Mayida Azhar, Annie Lennon.
