A former Fellow, Tutor and University Lecturer in Physics, Geoffrey joined Wadham in 1969 and became an Emeritus Fellow in 2003.
“I am very pleased to be taking over as Editor, though rather daunted to be following the superb record of James Morwood and Ray Ockenden,” commented Geoffrey. I expect to be in touch with many of you soon, soliciting your contributions to the 2018 Gazette.
He did his undergraduate degree in Physics (BA) at Pembroke College Oxford, 1957—60, and went on to complete his DPhil in 1964, his thesis entitled Some properties of liquid helium.
At Wadham his tutorials covered a wide range within physics. He served several periods as Secretary to the Governing Body, was Tutor for Admissions and Senior Tutor. Geoff is author of the book Modern Classical Optics and is currently ‘tidying up’ essays which took ‘sideways’ views of the topics covered in his tutorials, with a view to publication.
