The election of these two influential alumni as Honorary Fellows was wholeheartedly supported by the College’s Governing Body at a recent meeting.

Warden of Wadham College, Ken Macdonald QC lauded Amelia’s enormous distinction as a leading journalist, writer and commentator, winning the Orwell Prize for journalism in 2012, and most recently the Paul Foot Prize for breaking the story about the scandalous mistreatment of members of the Windrush generation.

He praised Stuart Russell, Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley and Adjunct Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, for his scholarship in the field of Artificial Intelligence, his work with the United Nations and with former US President, Barack Obama.

“I am delighted that both Amelia and Stuart have accepted their Honorary Fellowships and we look forward to their involvement in the life and future of the College where they completed their undergraduate studies. It is an honour for Wadham to be associated with these outstanding individuals,” he said.
