Impact award for Wadham Lecturer

21st February 2019

Conservation work by Wadham Lecturer Cedric Tan has been recognised with a Social Impact Award from Oxford University’s Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division.

Cedric has been working to influence conservation decisions to protect the habitat of clouded leopards at Ulu Muda forest in Malaysia.

During Cedric’s postdoctoral research at WildCRU (Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Unit), he conducted a camera trap study at Ulu Muda, investigating the spatial and temporal patterns of the elusive clouded leopard and the effects of deforestation on this vulnerable species.

In addition to his published findings, he has created a video highlighting the importance of conservation to Ulu Muda forest to protect a variety of endangered species.

Cedric was presented with his award by Professor Alison Noble (Associate Head of Division for Industrial Liaison and Innovation) at the MPLS Winter Reception at, Mansfield College.
