Four Wadham alumni are recognised in the 2019 New Year’s Honour List.

Theo Blackwell (History 1991), was awarded an MBE for services to Local Government Digital Transformation.  A long-time Councillor for the London Borough of Camden (until 2017), he is now Chief Digital Officer for the Mayor of London at City Hall.

Chris Kingsley (Chemistry 1985), receives an OBE for services to the Economy.  CTO & Co-Founder of Rebellion. Founded in 1992, Rebellion is one of Europe’s leading independent game developers and comic book publishers.

Lucy Lake (Biological Sciences 1991), receives an OBE for Services to Young People in Africa.  Lucy is CEO of Camfed International, a charity which invests in girls and women in the poorest rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa, where girls face acute disadvantage, and where their empowerment is now transforming communities.

Former Fellow in Geochemistry Earth Sciences at Wadham, Professor Alex Halliday, is awarded a Knight Bachelor for services to Science & Innovation. Alex is Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
