Benefactors' Evening of Music and Poetry

More than 100 alumni joined our evening of music and poetry from the Holywell Music Room.

The virtual event, held in lieu of the Benefactors' Garden Party, was the final alumni event to be hosted by Warden Ken Macdonald QC before he steps down this summer.

The Warden is joined on stage by Professorial Fellow and Heather Professor of Music at Oxford, Eric Clarke, who offers musical commentary, and Emeritus Fellow Bernard O'Donoghue and Ruth Thrush (English, 2019) reading poetry. 

With the title "New Beginnings", the programme includes music by Haydn, Clara Schumann, Shostakovich, and Stephen Bick, performed by founder and Artistic Director of the Oxford Lieder Festival, Sholto Kynoch (piano), Helen Charlston (mezzo-soprano) and Alessandro Fisher (tenor).
