Designed by architects Allies and Morrison, the building is one of 13 regional award winners chosen from forty projects and one of three new Oxford buildings named best in the UK.
Wadham’s 135 bedroom development provides homes, mostly for second year students, with an attractive internal courtyard garden, and social and teaching space.
Former Warden Ken Macdonald QC commented: “I would like to thank all those who worked so hard to make this building such a great success and such a wonderful asset for our College. It is very pleasing that your efforts have been publicly recognised in this way.”
Regional awards were announced in August and the 54 national award winners were announced this month. The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning projects. An overall victor will be announced on Thursday, 14 October.
