Rebecca Brown, Research Associate
Becky is a Career Development Fellow at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, and a Research Associate at Wadham College.
Her research focuses on the philosophy and ethics of public health. This includes looking at different ways of promoting healthy behaviours, such as educational programs, ’nudges’ and regulation. She also works on the role of responsibility in healthcare, and whether or not it is appropriate to hold people responsible for poor health they suffer as a result of their behaviour.
Becky initially studied Veterinary Medicine at university before switching to History and Philosophy of Science. She undertook a PhD at Queen Mary, University of London, investigating the ethics of using financial incentives to encourage healthy behaviours. Subsequently, Becky worked as a research fellow in Applied Ethics at the University of Aberdeen, before moving to Oxford in 2017.
