Dr Federico Formenti, Keeley Visiting Fellow
BSc, MSc, PhD, DPhil, FHEA
Federico is a physiologist and sports scientist. His multidisciplinary research interests include human responses to hypoxia, cardiopulmonary and exercise physiology, development of technology for physiological research and critical care. This research is supported by an international network of fantastic collaborators.
Federico obtained a DPhil in human physiology under the supervision of Professors Robbins and Dorrington, and a PhD in human biomechanics under the supervision of Professor Minetti. Federico was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Nuffield Division of Anaesthetics at Oxford with Professors Andrew Farmery and Clive Hahn.
He is a Senior Lecturer in Human Physiology at King’s College London, an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Division of Anaesthetics at Oxford, an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Federico serves Experimental Physiology as a Senior Editor and as ad hoc reviewer for several journals (see Publons). The group is funded by the NIHR, EPSRC, The Physiological Society, the Association of Anaesthetists and King’s College London.
Federico’s time away from work is spent with his lovely family and with their relatives between Valpolicella and the Mid-West. He likes running, which his brother says is better described as fast walking (at best).
