Olivia Glaze, Lecturer in Portuguese
Olivia is a DPhil candidate within the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, specialising in contemporary Portuguese literature.
She completed a BA in Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Southampton before gaining an MSt in Modern Languages from Wadham College, University of Oxford. She was also a visiting student at the Universidade do Porto in 2013-14.
Her research is generally concerned with autofiction and female authorship, but more specifically engages with trauma narratives of the Portuguese Colonial War (1961-74) and how the wounded body and mind function as disruptive sites of memory in post-imperial Portuguese texts.
Olivia teaches Translation, and lectures on Lusophone women writers such as Lidía Jorge and Isabela Figueiredo.
Alongside her ongoing research, Olivia is a Study Skills Advisor for undergraduate students at Wadham.
