Dr Lucy McDermott, JRF in Medical Sciences
Lucy is interested in the molecular mechanisms of pain sensation and in particular, understanding the role of the voltage gated sodium channel Nav1.7 in human nociception.
Lucy’s work uses iPSC derived nociceptors in combination with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing to functionally characterise Nav1.7 in a human model system.
She is a keen CRISPR enthusiast and enjoys being involved in the Genome Engineering Forum at Oxford.
In her spare time, she enjoys cycling around Oxfordshire on a rusty 1966 Raleigh bike.
