Dr Judy Stephenson researches employment, work, and labour markets, in England before 1800.


She completed her doctoral research at London School of Economics and Political Science in 2015. Her research on early modern wages won her the Economic History Society New Researcher Prize in 2014. She was the Society's Tawney Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research in 2015 - 6 which she spent with the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure. She has a wide interest in finance, business, and commercial organisation in England in the early modern period.
