Castle Mill flats near Port Meadow

To ensure as many first year graduate students as possible are offered accommodation, each year Wadham seeks an arrangement with the University of Oxford to offer some single en-suite study bedrooms at Castle Mill. The residences are owned and managed by the University. As of October 2018, we are awaiting notice of whether Wadham will be allocated rooms at Castle Mill.

Please note that rooms at Castle Mill may be available for the 2019-20 academic year to full-time graduate students (from any college) who apply directly through the University's Graduate Accommodation Office. That is a separate process and not related to offers of accommodation from Wadham College.

More about Castle Mill

Castle Mill is in close proximity to the centre of Oxford, located between the railway line and the picturesque Port Meadow.  The residence is within easy reach of all local amenities and transport links, including a short walk to Oxford’s railway station.  There is a designated cycle track that leads from the site to Port Meadow car park and Walton Well Road.  This gives cycle and pedestrian access to Jericho, North Oxford and the Science site, bypassing the city centre.

The accommodation is arranged in four, five and six bed apartments. All study bedrooms are fitted to a high standard and include an en-suite shower, toilet and washbasin.  All study bedrooms share a fully fitted kitchen (Oven and hob, fridge/freezer, toaster and kettle) and dining/living area.

Each bedroom contains a single bed, wardrobe, desk with three drawers, chair and easy chair, chest of drawers and a bookshelf. Residents are expected to provide their own bedding (including duvet and pillow), kitchen utensils and crockery/cutlery.

Castle Mill is staffed with a team of caretakers on weekdays.  There is a comprehensive CCTV monitoring system and access to the residences is via an electronic entry system. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi,  on-site coin operated laundry, four common rooms which can be booked for parties and other gatherings, and bike storage.

While residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms, kitchens and other common areas are cleaned regularly.

What is the contract length?
Tenancy agreements are with the University of Oxford and run from approximately 10 September 2018 through 31 July 2019.
