Summary
Step into the world of revolutionary England and examine a selection of political broadsides issued between the years 1640 and 1680 by the King or by Parliament and the Lords. Discover how those governing the country during this tumultuous time communicated with the common man and woman. Watch two accompanying films which delve deeper into the purpose and effect of the broadsides and describe how they were produced and disseminated.
Wadham's exhibition is part of a free walking tour exhibition also involving six other Oxford College libraries, with a theme of 'hidden strengths' to showcase some really interesting items that you might not necessarily expect to find in a library.
There is no need to register for the walking tour, but anyone who would like to come along should go to Lincoln College Library at 2pm on the 28th, where there will be a brief introduction. You can then collect a custom-designed map and souvenir bookmark and choose which of the seven libraries to visit (or try to fit them all in!).
