Wadham’s access and outreach team provides a responsive and inclusive programme to help young people make informed choices about their futures.
Our Link Regions
Under the University’s Regionalisation Scheme, each Oxford College focuses their outreach work on particular local authorities across the UK. Our link regions are Barking and Dagenham, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hackney, Havering, Islington, Luton, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.

Sustained Contact Programmes
Think Like a Lawyer
A programme for Year 12 students, funded by and run in collaboration with global law firm, Linklaters. The programme has 20 spaces and is designed around the first year of a law undergraduate degree.
Access to Banking
A programme for Year 12 students, funded by and run in collaboration with Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank. The programme has 20 spaces and is designed around core skills for university learning and careers in banking.
The Wadham Project
Open to all state schools in Bedfordshire, Central Bedford and Luton. This project works with pupils in Y10-11 aiming to raise awareness of courses available at university and provide guidance to support progression to Higher Education.
Charlie Hutchison Project
The Charlie Hutchison Project is an innovative research project which supports NewVic sixth form students, and other pupils studying in Newham and Tower Hamlets, to increase attainment at A-level and develop skills for Arts/Humanities at university.
Wadham Summer Schools
Pupils take part in a week-long academic programme, live in College, meet student ambassadors studying at Oxford, and receive information, advice and guidance on applying to university. Applicants must be year 12s studying at a UK state school or sixth form. There are 48 places available each year, across three subject streams: Classics, Modern Languages, and Biology & Human Sciences.

With Oxford University
Wadham is happy to partner with the central University in supporting its access programmes. Wadham was one of the first colleges to take part in the Astrophoria Foundation Year programme, offering spaces for aproximately 5 participants per year. Wadham also makes around 8 offers a year to eligible applicants under the Opportunity Oxford programme. Many thanks to the McCall MacBain Foundation for funding these opportunities. Wadham provide accommodation for the UNIQ Summer Schools and Wadham alumni fund the Engineering strand to double the number of spaces available.”
With Third-Sector Partners
Wadham works in collaboration with educational specialists to support its work. The Brilliant Club supports less advantaged students to access the most competitive universities, and to succeed when they get there.
Target Oxbridge is a free programme that aims to help black African and Caribbean students and students of mixed race with black African and Caribbean heritage increase their chances of getting into the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge.
Causeway Education works to equip young people, and the people that support them, with the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to make the best possible choices and applications to post-18 destinations.
Future Leaders is a leadership programme working with Year 12s from underrepresented backgrounds in East and West London. The programme provides sustained support with post-18 pathways and empowers young people to be advocates for equality and diversity in their communities.
