Staff at Greater Anglia collaborated with the Essex Women’s Commemorative Project (EWCP) to install the blue plaque at the Ingatestone, in honour of our founder, Dorothy Wadham.

Greater Anglia say that Ingatestone was chosen because the land on which the station stands was once owned by Sir William Petre, father of Dorothy.

The plaque reads "Dorothy Wadham, 1534/1535 - 1618, Brought up and educated at Ingatestone Hall. Executed her late husband's endowment by founding Wadham College Oxford."

The plaque will be officially unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex on 16 April at Ingatestone at 12:00.

The full story of the plaque can be read on the Greater Anglia website.
