We want to make it easy for you to meet like-minded alumni from every generation whether it's for mentorship, advice, or forging new contacts.

Sachin Patel, president of Wadham Alumni Society Committee and Managing Director at Neuberger Berman shares the vision behind Wadham Career Networks.

Tell us more about the idea behind the alumni career networks and who they are aimed at.

Wadham has an incredible alumni community that’s represented at every level of pretty much every sector, from academia and public service through to industry, commerce and law. We want to make it easy for you to meet like minded alumni from every generation, whether it's for mentorship and advice, forging new contacts, exploring new career opportunities or if you’re looking to hire talented staff.

What would it look like to be part of a Wadham Career Network? For example, what opportunities will there be for alumni to connect?

Ideally everyone should be able to benefit and contribute as much or as little as they’d like. It’ll be mostly event-based with discussions and drinks (lets face it, networking is most effective in person) but there will be a range of opportunities that best suit each Career Network. For example, the Wadham Entrepreneurs have an active WhatsApp group to share problems, solutions, contacts & updates etc…We want to support what works best for you so please let us know with feedback

What do you hope alumni will gain by being part of one?

The short answer is “whatever you’re looking for”! A network can be whatever you want to make of it. At various times, alumni from different generations have helped me with e.g. business introductions, candidates for specialised roles I was hiring for and even more general life and parenting advice!

How can an alumnus join one?

Watch this space – we’ll be keeping people informed through publications like Wadham Connects, posts on LinkedIn and via email. Fill out this short form to register your interest in hearing more or contact barnaby.norman@wadham.ox.ac.uk

How might an alumnus start one?

We’ll start by leveraging off a few groups that already exist (through their own initiative), add a couple of new ones and grow from there. The platform is being run by a sub-committee of the Wadham Alumni Society Committee (WASC) and they welcome your feedback and suggestions for how to develop the networks over time.If you email the Development Office with your ideas, they will pass them on.
