We are saddened by the passing of our Emeritus Fellow, Dr Tao Tao Liu.

Dr Tao Tao Liu passed away on 31 December 2025. Dr Liu was our Senior Research Fellow in Chinese 1986 -1990 and Tutor in Chinese, 1990 - 2009. Her research interests included Modern Chinese Literature of the Republican era. Her publications include Town and Country in China: identity and perception ed. With David Faure, Palgrave, 2002; Wintry Night by Li Qiao, translation, Columbia University Press, 2001; and "Hu Shi and the Story of the Stone", For David Hawkes at Eighty, The Chinese University Press and Hong Kong Translation Society, 2003. 

Dr Liu was a valued member of our College community and a respected, admired, and much-loved colleague and mentor to her students. Her portrait hangs in our Dining Hall. Dr Liu will be missed greatly by the Wadham community and our thoughts are with her family at this time.
