Biography

Stephen Taylor is the singing teacher at Wadham as well as at Brasenose and Harris Manchester College, where he is also the Director of Music. He also holds posts at Eton and Radley College and is the Director of Choral Music at Cothill House School. He also teaches on The Rodolfus Choral Courses during the summer vacations.

Stephen has enjoyed a career as a solo and ensemble singer, which has taken him to far flung places, such as Australia, Japan and Korea, as well as USA, Canada and much of Europe. He has particularly enjoyed singing with The Tallis Scholars, appearing with them on discs and many tours abroad and was a founder member of the consort group, La Chapelle du Roi, which recorded the complete works of Thomas Tallis, including the solo lute songs for Signum Records, appearing as the soloist.

In Oxford, he sang as an alto lay clerk at Christ Church and latterly at New College for 33 years. He is a music graduate of Durham University, where he also sang as a choral scholar in the cathedral choir.
