Jasmin Wai Tan Law

Jasmin Wai Tan Law specialises in the history and literature of late imperial China, with a particular interest in seventeenth-century global microhistory. Following her doctoral training at KU Leuven as a maritime historian of early modern Asia, she held an Ahmanson-Getty Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA.

Dr Law's research is anchored in the maritime zone centred on the Canton–Macao region, exploring the broader cultural exchanges between Ming–Qing China and Europe.

At the Koch History Centre, Dr Law is developing a new research project on epidemic landscapes and preventive knowledge in early modern maritime Guangdong, in collaboration with the CCKF-funded project "The Spread of Disease across the (South-)East Asian Seas: Environment, Health, and Medicine (1560 to 1850)."
