Minister of State for Universities, Jo Johnson, spoke at Wadham’s Social Mobility Summit at the House of Lords, alongside the Vice Chancellor of Oxford, Professor Louise Richardson and Warren East (Engineering, 1980), CEO of Rolls Royce. A debate on social mobility and access to higher education was chaired by alumnus Melvyn Bragg (History, 1958).  The Minister welcomed the Impact Report 2017 which is a review of the Access and Outreach work carried out as part of the Access to Excellence Programme.

Wadham Law student Sam Irving won third prize in the 42 Bedford Row Disability Law Essay Prize 2017, organised by Wadham Law students. Panellists discussed how the law should protect the right of persons with disabilities to just and favourable conditions of work, on an equal basis with others, including equal remuneration for work of equal value.

Two Wadham students have launched EmpowerHerVoice (EHV), to help empower young women from across the world.

PROMYS Europe, a challenging six-week residential summer programme at Wadham College, is seeking pre-university students from across Europe who show unusual readiness to think deeply about mathematics. The deadline for first-year student applications is 19 March and PROMYS Europe 2017 will run from 9 July to 19 August.

Community Engagement - Wadham is committed to working closely with the local community and has an open doors policy welcoming visitors to explore the College and its gardens.

Wadham Circles' members are invited to join the debate ‘The Parthenon Marbles: London or Athens?’ at The British Museum on 1 March.  Join the discussion ahead of the debate at our Facebook page.

Alumni from the years 1970-1974 are warmly welcomed back for their Gaudy on 17 March for a drinks reception and black tie dinner in Hall in true Wadham tradition.
