Back Quad Development

Wadham College is proud to have opened two inspirational new buildings in our Back Quad - and it is thanks to your support.

Oxford's first-ever purpose-built Access Centre, the Locke Access Centre in the Dr Lee Shau Kee Building is the hub for Wadham's extensive school outreach work. The fully accessible William Doo Undergraduate Centre provides our students with inspirational facilities for social and academic interaction.

Thanks to the outstanding benefactions from our lead donors, and the generous gifts from alumni and friends all over the world, we have secured an unprecedented £17 million of our £18 million target, with alumni and friends helping to fund elements within the buildings.

We were thrilled to welcome donors to the official opening in autumn 2022 and the College is delighted to recognise the generosity of our alumni and friends on the donor wall in the atrium of the new Back Quad buildings.

The Back Quad project is part of Wadham's Access to Excellence programme which supports young people from the moment they consider university, through their undergraduate and graduate studies, and as they go out into the world. Every donation makes a difference and by contributing to this project you will see the tangible impact of your generosity every time you return to Wadham.

How you can help

While the Back Quad appeal has come to a successful conclusion, there are a limited number of naming opportunities available. “Thanks to our benefactors we are making the world class education and research at Wadham and Oxford accessible to the brightest students from a broader range of backgrounds than ever before."
