Ankhi Mukherjee is elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society

Our Tutorial Fellow and Professor of English and World Literatures is among the new Fellows of this international community of historians.
Founded in 1868, the Royal Historical Society (RHS) is a successful learned society, membership organisation and charity with a 150 year history. Today, the RHS is the UK’s foremost society working for historians and history.
In 2026 more than 7,000 historians belong and contribute to the Society as Fellows and Members active in the UK and worldwide, making it the UK’s largest membership organisation for historians of all kinds. The RHS said 'all those newly elected to the Fellowship and Membership bring a valuable range of expertise and experience to the Society.'
Professor Mukherjee said:
“I am thrilled to have this recognition of my research and teaching in literary history and the history of medicine. It is an honour to belong to this international and diverse group of scholars defining the study of the past for the globally interlinked present and a wiser, kinder future to come."
