Wadham undergraduate wins the Eisenthal Prize

Corinne McCarthy received the award from the Biochemical Society for their top-ranked summer internship project.

Wadham student, Corinne McCarthy, completed an internship in the Department of Biochemistry's Lau Lab, in the summer of 2025. The Lau Lab explores the malarial cytoskeleton and Corinne secured funding from the Biochemical Society to undertake the project.

Following her successful six-week placement, Corinne was awarded the Eisenthal Prize. This annual award is presented by the Biochemical Society to the top-ranked undergraduate who completes one of their Summer Vacation Studentships. The award is made based on the student’s initial application score and their post-studentship research report. Corinne's report, In vitro comparisons of Plasmodium falciparum and Homo sapiens end-binding protein 1, is published in The Biochemist, the journal of the Biochemical Society.
