by Blondin and Mezzacappa
Wadham has a thriving community of graduate physicists, undertaking research in a wide range of fields.
The Courses
Wadham accepts applications for the following research degrees in Physics:
DPhil Astrophysics
DPhil Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics
DPhil Atomic and Laser Physics
DPhil Theoretical Physics
MSc in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics
DPhil Particle Physics
DPhil Condensed Matter Physics
MSc(Res) Condensed Matter Physics
DPhil in the New and Sustainable Photovoltaics Centre for Doctoral Training
Further details of these courses can be found on the website of the Department of Physics.
Prof Martin Bureau
Martin’s research centres on the formation and evolution of galaxies, primarily through detailed studies of (samples of) nearby systems, this across the whole electromagnetic spectrum. His research primarily exploits integral-field spectrographs and synthesis imaging, yielding three-dimensional observations of galaxies.
Prof Fabrizio Caola
Currently, Fabrizio's main research interests are QCD (the theory that describes strong interactions), Higgs physics and collider phenomenology.
Prof Hannah Christensen
Hannah’s research centres on the role of fast atmospheric processes in the climate system, including convective storms, clouds, and turbulence. She is interested in sources of predictability for these fast processes, and how these processes impact more slowly evolving components of the climate system such as the oceans.
