Study Advisor Scheme
Wadham has five Study Advisors who provide undergraduates with study skill guidance.
Study Advisors
Study guidance is not subject-specific, but Study Advisors can help with issues such as time management, organising your reading productively or planning essays. Three of our Study Advisors are able to help students doing science subjects with general data analysis and statistical methods.
How to book...
Meetings may be arranged by referral from your Tutor. Students are also able to self-refer to the programme. If you would like to register your interest for up to two 1-hour sessions with a Study Advisor, please contact the Graduate Administrator, april.gilling@wadham.ox.ac.uk. In your email please include your subject, year, and a brief description of what you’d like help with (for example: essay writing, or time management).
You can also discuss Study Skills support with your College Tutor, The Tutor for Undergraduates, Alex Paseau (alexander.paseau@wadham.ox.ac.uk), or the Welfare Team (welfare.advisor@wadham.ox.ac.uk; jane.baun@wadham.ox.ac.uk) to be referred.
Dan McAteer
Subjects: Humanities
I'm a third-year DPhil student at the History Faculty, where I study the relationship between information technology and political thought in the late twentieth century. Before the DPhil, I studied for an MSc in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology and a BA in History, both here at Oxford. I also worked for one of the University's access and outreach schemes, and I continue to have a keen interest in fair access to higher education. I'd be delighted to help with virtually any aspect of undergraduate humanities study, so please get in touch if you feel you might benefit from a Wadham Study Advice session.
Adam Hegedus

Adam is a Master of Public Policy and Master of Business Administration 1+1 Pershing Square Scholar. Adam's academic background is in organisational studies, gender and leadership, consent education and early childhood education policy. Adam is Managing Director of Educating The Future, a not-for-profit providing pre-school education in Timor-Leste.
Ingrid Schreiber
Subjects: Humanities
I am a fourth-year DPhil student in the Faculty of History, where I work on the intellectual history of the Enlightenment. I am generally interested in the intersection of history, philosophy, and political theory. Before coming to Wadham, I did an MSt in History next door at Harris Manchester. I’m originally from Australia, where I did a BA in History, Gender Studies, and German at the University of Melbourne. I would be very happy to help with anything to do with humanities study, including time management, research skills, note taking, essay writing, and foreign language study.
Sarah Gaspard
Subjects: Humanities
I’m a fourth-year DPhil student in the Faculty of English, where I study intertwinements between depictions of mental illness and violence in postwar (1945-2000) American and British fiction. I’m generally interested in intersections between (neuro)science and modern literature, as well as world and comparative literature. I’m originally from Montréal, Canada, and before coming to Oxford, I completed both an MA and a BA in English Literature at Concordia University, and a BA&Sc in Cognitive Science (psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy streams) at McGill University. I’ve worked as a student representative in various capacities (academic, welfare, social) throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, and I remain very passionate about optimizing students’ university experiences. I look forward to helping with anything related to undergraduate study, such as effective reading methods, writing skills, time management, organisational tools, etc.
Simran Singh
Subjects: MPLS
I am a third-year DPhil student in Engineering Science, where I study the deformation mechanisms in airplane engine blades, subjected to a high-velocity impact. Before the DPhil, I studied the geophysical flow dynamics in Giant planets, such as Jupiter and Saturn, and foreign debris impact on CubeSats at the University of Alberta.
