As part of our events to mark '50 years of Women at Wadham', we are delighted to be hosting a curated conversation between Erica Whyman (Philosophy and Modern Languages, 1988) and Felicity Jones (English, 2003).

Doors will open at 5pm and the event will begin at 5.15pm and last an hour. The event will be followed by a drinks reception.

Felicity Jones and Erica Whyman

In their respective roles as actress and theatre director, Felicity and Erica will discuss powerful, ground-breaking women – fictional characters and real-life individuals – who’ve influenced them in their work for the stage and film.

Felicity Jones is a BAFTA- and Academy Award-nominated actress whose films include The Brutalist, The Theory of Everything, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, On the Basis of Sex and many more.

Erica Whyman is an artistic leader and theatre director. She led various British theatre companies for 25 years, including the Royal Shakespeare Company. Erica is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Schwarzman Centre for Humanities and at Wadham College. Erica is reflecting on how theatre and the arts can play a transformative role in strengthening our communities and reimagining democracy, and is collaborating with community leaders in Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys to create an annual festival, part of the University of Oxford’s work to positively impact the city.
