We were delighted to welcome Peter Mandelson for the latest of our 'Wadham in the World' events, which was hosted by our Warden, Robert Hannigan.
Peter Mandelson joined us on 28 February 2023 to discuss the question of whether British politic is ready for the economic challenges we face. Lord Mandelson is former European Trade Commissioner and Secretary of State. Prior to this, he held a number of Cabinet posts under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown and was one of the architects of New Labour.
Lord Mandelson shared his thoughts on the economic situation the UK is in and our limited options following Brexit. He discussed his views regarding the radical and deep-seated changes, primarily a change of government, that we need in our country if we are to reinvent ourselves for success and prosperity during the course of this century. Questions from the audience and a lively debate followed.
