Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv is longlisted for The Booker Prize

The book by Andrey Kurkov was translated into English by our alumnus, Reuben Woolley

Reuben Woolley's translation of Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv by Andrey Kurkov has been longlisted for The International Booker Prize 2023.

Reuben Woolley graduated from Wadham in 2021 with a BA in English and Russian. He has returned to Oxford to study for an MSt in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation at St Anne's College. Reuben received the National Centre for Writing's Emerging Translator Mentorship in Russian for 2020-21.

Many congratulations and good luck to both author and translator, and to the publisher, MacLehose Press. The shortlist of six books will be announced on 18 April and the winning title will be announced on 23 May 2023.

Shot through with Kurkov’s unique brand of black humour and vodka-fuelled magic realism, 'Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv' is an affectionate portrait of one of the world’s most intriguing cities.
