Wadham Junior Research Fellow awarded a Henry Kaufman Financial History Fellowship
Date Published: 30.05.2024
The Henry Kaufman Financial History Fellowship Program supports research by emerging scholars in financial history. Our JRF, Dr Robert Yee, is among the 2024 Fellowship recipients.
Robert Yee joined Wadham in 2023 as the third David Richards Junior Research Fellow in Economic History. Dr Yee's research focuses on the economic and political history of modern Europe. He is particularly interested in the history of central banking, finance, and international relations.
Dr Yee is working on turning his dissertation into a book, the tentative title of which is 'The Interwar Economic Order: Finance, Expertise, and the Bank of England, 1914 - 1939'. It describes how the political and economic consequences of the First World War led the Bank of England to re-evaluate its traditional role as a monetary authority. Dr Yee said:
'As a Kaufman Fellow, I plan to finalise my book project for publication. It is currently under contract with Cambridge University Press and I am hoping to see it published in time for the 100th anniversary of Britain's return to the gold standard.'
Many congratulations to Dr Yee on this achievement!
We are grateful to the Richards family for their generosity in funding the David Richardson Junior Research Fellowship in Economic History.
