Kate Daudy and 'Seeds of Hope'
We were honoured to welcome Kate Daudy, a British conceptual artist who was a Wadham student in the late 1980s, and UNHCR's Maeve Paterson to College for Giving Day. We were inspired to hear about their work.
In conversation with our host and 2nd year PPE student, Eleanor Miller, Kate described her current project, Seeds of Hope. She was moved to create flowers that grow around London after her time in refugee camps. Each flower in bloom across London brings with it messages of hope, humanity and solidarity through the stories of refugees.
UNHRC describes Seeds of Hope:
"In the latest collaboration between British conceptual artist, Kate Daudy and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, The Seeds of Hope calls to mind the oneness of nature and humanity. Through art, video and digital, the project evokes how refugees with the right support and compassion can thrive - just as seeds blown by the wind can flower under any circumstance."
Kate kindly donated 'Dandelion', a piece from this project, for our Giving Day Art Auction.
