Estates Energy Saving with Eyeseagree — Lessons Learned
Wadham is committed to being part of Oxford University's efforts to improve environmental sustainability, locally and globally. Oxford University and College Estates face a shared challenge: achieving significant energy savings and meeting sustainability objectives without compromising the fabric, character, or functionality of historic buildings.
At the start of Trinity term 2026, we were pleased to host a joint presentation with Eyeseagreen for our University and college colleagues. The seminar was led by our Estates Manager, Chris Cox, and Eyeseegreen's CTO and Founder, Dr Tashiv Ramsander.
Chris and Tash drew on live deployments at Wadham to present an evidence-based approach to room-level energy management and control. They demonstrated how intelligent, room-specific systems can actively manage heating, ventilation, and environmental conditions — delivering substantial energy savings while reducing reliance on whole building invasive retrofits. Chris and his team gain value operational insights to support informed decision-making also. The session explored practical lessons learned from ongoing work at Wadham, including Eyesense Controllers and monitoring systems; NexGen Infra-Red Paper; and Sunamp hot water thermal cubes.
These initiatives have contributed already to significant reductions of gas consumption at Wadham this academic year (Oct to 31 Mar 26).
We aim to reach carbon net zero by 2035 and Eyeseegreen technology is helping us to make significant strides towards this goal. Find out more about our efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce our impact on the environment.
