Tết Celebration at Wadham College

Date Published: 16.01.2023

We celebrated Vietnamese Lunar New Year with our honoured guests.

We welcomed H.E. Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long from the Embassy of Vietnam in London, Oxford's Deputy Lord Mayor, Mark Lygo, and members of VIS UK & Ireland (Vietnamese Intellectual Society in the UK and Ireland) and VOX (Vietnamese student society at the University of Oxford) to the Tet Celebration, or Festival of the First Day of the Year, at Wadham College on 14 January.

VIS members and their families and guests were joined by Andrew Farmery, Professor of Anaesthetics in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Fellow and tutor in Pre-clinical Medicine at Wadham; Professor Sir Peter Horby, Oxford University Professor of Emerging Infections and Global Health; and our Development Director and Fellow, Julie Hage. Professor Farmery was one of the invited speakers at the VIS Annual General Meeting, which preceded the celebration.

The Tet Celebration marks the arrival of spring based on the Vietnamese calendar and our guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes in our Dining Hall. We hope to see them here again soon.
